Chances Of Getting Pregnant On Mirena

I have suffered with BV for almost two years now and i am becoming concerned about what effects this may have on my chances of pregnancy in the present or future. So how would having BV affect your chances of naturally getting pregnant in the future?

This is question that gets asked allover on the net and many people will identify with it. That was exactly my problem too. I’ve been having problems with BV for about a year now. But to give you hope i am now 10 weeks pregnant with my first! :) So you should have no problems. It’s weird how doctors can’t give a reason as to why BV won’t go away after taking the antibiotics and for me VERY annoying and frustrating, to think i have to deal with this for the rest of my life SUCKS. All my doctor tells me is some women just get it more than others, like a yeast infection.

Well I’m 10 weeks pregnant and still have it, currently I’m on antibiotics that i just got 2 days ago because i noticed the discharge wasn’t normal discharge (that’s how i know i got it again) so he gave me some meds to take for a week, but i told him “um don’t you know I’ll get this again in a week and that’s probably not good for the baby” he told me BV won’t hurt the baby but MAY cause pre-term contractions (scary) so for a while i have to take a low dose of antibiotics to keep it away, maybe even throughout my whole pregnancy.

Hope this helped (its sucks to have it i know) but there is hope. For a while i couldn’t get pregnant and now a year later here i am! When you become pregnant though keep a closer eye! Also try summers eve famine wash, switch underwear, and wash your underwear in a diff detergent like woolite or something not strong, and eat yogurt daily. That’s what my doctor told me.

To say the list, i don’t think BV could affect your chances of becoming pregnant. But it can have an effect on your baby while you are pregnant; miscarriages, etc. so it is very good that you treat tis condition.

There is also this very great bacterial vaginosis cure guide which helped me a lot when I was struggling with my recurrent BV. what are the chances of getting pregnant on mirena? ive been on a lot of different birth controls before and ive never gotten pregnant but i was just wondering? thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Mirena is the best birth control out there I had it for a year and never got prego and I was having unprotected sex the whole time (of course I was in a committed relationship)
Chances of getting pregnant with Mirena IUD?
I was wondering what are the chances of getting pregnant with the mirena IUD implanted? Will it show up on a home pregnancy test? Its very dangerous if I get pregnant now because I am on coumadin(blood thinner) for blood clots in my leg and lung.

    • ANSWER:
Your chances of getting pregnant on the Mirena are as effective as getting your tubes tied (99%). If you take a home pregnancy test while on the Mirena it WILL NOT come up positive just because of the hormones within Mirena. I had been on Mirena for four years before I had mine removed last week and it was absolutely wonderful-no worries!
Mirena and chances of getting pregnant?
What are the chances of getting pregnant while on Mirena?I’ve had in it for almost 2 months now.

    • ANSWER:
I used to work for an obgyn and the chances of you getting pregnant are about 99 %. Same as any other method. Usually you go back in and have a string check to make sure that is in place correctly. I did have a few people come into the office that were pregnant…and mad about it..bc they had an iud. But I have seen people get pregnant even after having a tubal…there is always that tiny chance.. that is very rare! More than likely you will be fine! Good luck!
What are the chances of getting pregnant while on Mirena?
I got the mirena inserted in August. I had one cycle the time I was suppose to and my husband and I had unprotected sex after it and little did I know, it should be the time Im ovulating. Does it take time for the Mirena to be 99% effective or is it effective as soon as you get it?
    Thanks in advance!

    • ANSWER:
I was told by my doctor that it does work almost immediately but to use protection the first week just to be on the safe side. I would say you are safe. I have had mine since March of 2007 and only used protection the first week and I have not fallen pregnant.
What are the chances of getting pregnant on Mirena?!?
I gave birth on Valentine’s Day and I had mirena placed about a month ago.
My doc told me that Mirena is more effective than having your tubes tied! I kept stressing to her that I do not want another baby for a few years, and she said the women who get pregnant while Mirena is inserted get pregnant because they aren’t checking their strings and the IUD has been misplaced.
Is this legit? Can you get pregnant even if the strings are there?
I even asked her if hubby needs to pull out or if we need to use condoms – she said no.
I’m nervous because I haven’t gotten a period yet (which I know is normal) but feel nauseous and some other symptoms, as well. I’ll go get a test tomorrow but wanted to see if any of you have experience with this.

    • ANSWER:
I have the Mirena myself, I no longer get my periods. However I am scared of using it much longer. Two of my friends have gotten pregnant with it so I am now scheduling to get my tubes tied.
