What Are The Most Fertile Days To Get Pregnant?

Most women never really give much thought as to how their reproductive cycle works. They simply expect to get a period every month, unless they are pregnant, and concern over how the cycle operates will only arise if problems do. Although menstrual cycles can range from a low of twenty days to forty days or more, most women have a 28 day cycle. The first day of menstruation is considered the first day of the reproductive cycle. Based on a 28 day cycle, ovulation will occur on the 14th day. If the woman’s cycle is 38 days, then she will ovulate on around day 19. Spotting, which can often occur just before the actual period begins, is not considered to be the beginning of the menstrual period. Day 1 will be the day that actual bleeding starts and should be marked on the calendar.

If a woman has been having trouble conceiving, it is important that she discover the most fertile days to get pregnant. To do this, she will have to chart her cycle over a period of at least 3 to 4 months. All she will need in order to do this is a calendar, and perhaps a basal temperature thermometer or an ovulation predictor kit. By keeping track of her cycle over a period of a few months, she will be able to more accurately predict when will be the best days to get pregnant.

As day 14 of a woman’s cycle approaches, the estrogen levels in her body will rise, and on the 14th day (usually) the egg will be released. The egg will only live for a short time, between 24 and 72 hours at best, so it is only during this narrow window that fertilization will occur. An unfertilized egg just deteriorates, and is either washed out during the next menstrual period or is absorbed back into the body.

As can be seen timing intercourse is vital when trying to take advantage of the most fertile days to get pregnant. Most couples find that having intercourse 2 to 3 days before ovulation is expected to occur will encompass the time to get pregnant. Sperm can live for days in the woman’s body, so if they are deposited several days in advance of ovulation, they will be present and ready when the egg is released. It is usually a good idea for the man to refrain from ejaculating for several days before this period, to allow for a good supply of sperm.

Although indulging in intercourse a few days before when ovulation is expected can take advantage of the best days to get pregnant, a woman’s cycle can vary slightly from month to month, and there can be another way to use the most fertile days to get pregnant. Some couples have found that having intercourse a day or two after ovulation occurs will increase the chances that a woman will get pregnant. Some even claim that the sex of the child can be influenced by what day intercourse occurs on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can i get pregnant 2 days before my fertile days?
hey my husband and i are trying to conceive our 2nd child. We had unprotected sexual intercourse on February 1st 2009. My fertile days are February 3rd until the 8th. Can i possibly gotten pregnant and when can i test. Because when i got pregnant with my daughter it was a surprise but now we want another child.

    Thank You so much.

    • ANSWER:
The important thing here is what day you ovulate. Sperm can live in a perfect environment for 5-7 days, although 2-3 is more common. If you ovulate within a few days after you had unprotected sex, then you will have a decent chance of getting pregnant. To get a reliable answer on a test, you’ll want to wait at least 10 days after you ovulate (or, in most women, 4 days before your expected period is due). Good luck!

Anyone wait to have sex til Fertile days and become pregnant?
We have been trying for 9 months now, and We have done every other day, every day and also whenever and none of it has worked yet.
Only thing we have not done is refrain from sex. So we havent had sex since sat. and I am supposed to be ovulating tomorrow. I am using OPKS so we are going to hold off from sex til we get the first positive OPK. SO by then we will have 3-4 days built up.
Anyone else try this before and have it work?
Thanks Kerry! I love to hear success stories!

    • ANSWER:
I used an OPK for the first time in August – my husband and I hadnt had sex in about 4 days when I got a positive result. So we had sex that night – the next night -took one night off and had sex again on the 4th night. It worked as I am 12 weeks pregnant now :)

I wish I would have used one earlier because we tried for over a year only to find out I was ovulating a week later than I thought.

I am 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant. A couple of days ago I had a pink and then brown discharge?
I am 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant. A couple of days ago I had a pink and then brown discharge; it went away by itself in a day. Now I have an egg white type of discharge and some abdominal pain and back pain. I don’t know if this is normal. I heard this egg white type of discharge happens during the most fertile days of your cycle. Since I am pregnant, I am not sure if I am supposed to get that during the pregnancy. I am over 10 days into my cycle. I had a home pregnancy test and a blood test done and they both came out positive. I am just worried about the miscarriage.

could someone please tell on the based above info when my period due and what is the best day fertile to get pregnant?
    Thanks alot

    • ANSWER:
your most fertile the 14th day after you started your period however, if your bloke ejaculates the day before your fertile day, his sperm becomes weak so leave off sex on the 13th day and shag like rabits on th 14th.

Good luck hun, remember it takes time to concieve…make sure your taking your folic acid too 😉

Your period was due 7th feb which has not been yet so, wait till the 9th, 10th and if your still late then take a test.
